About FMI Paint and Stain Manufacturer and Retailer

FMI Paint & Stain started as a family-owned paint manufacturer and retailer under the Clark Paint label, growing to operate seven stores before selling its retail locations in 1984 to focus on direct trade sales and manufacturing.

In 1972, FMI pioneered the production and direct marketing of a 100% acrylic stain, “Stormcoat,” tailored for condominium associations. This product became highly respected in New England, extending painting cycles from every 2–3 years to 10–15 years and gaining popularity at prestigious complexes across the region.

FMI has also played a key role in the lumber priming industry, offering environmentally friendly coatings such as low VOC oil primers and latex finishes. Our coatings have been the choice to most Automated Wood Priming Operations all over New England. This commitment to quality and environmental standards has strengthened FMI’s reputation in the industry.

Today FMI continues to constantly set the standard for high quality paint products as well as new and innovative paint solutions requiring advanced technological capabilities. Nearly a century of success is a testament to FMI’s vision and leadership. That leadership continues to carry FMI forward, keeping our company entrenched as a top tier coating manufacturing and industry forerunner.

Mark is the next generation to join the FMI family and brings a wealth of knowledge and over 25 years of leadership experience.
