FMI Paint & Chemical began as a family owned manufacturer and retailer of paints under the clark paint label. Eventually, the retail company grew to 7 stores and in 1984, the retail stores were sold allowing FMI to concentrate solely on manufacturing and selling directly to the trade.
In 1972, FMI was the first company to manufacture and market a 100% acrylic stain directly to condominiums associations. Since then, "Stormcoat" has become one of the most recognized and respected coatings in New England, expanding staining and painting cycles from once every 2-3 years to once every 10-15 years. We continue to be the preferred product at some of the most prestigious complexes in New England.
In addition, FMI has become an integral part in supplying the lumber priming industry with the most environmentally friendly coatings available, including zero voc oil primers and latex finish coats. Our "Enviroprime" line of coatings is used by the largest priming operation in the northeast and their products can be found everywhere, from local retail lumber yards to even the big box stores.
The direct selling model has established FMI as a company that can deliver the highest quality products at a substantial savings than that of any retail paint store. The quality of our entire product line is unsurpassed, making it the number one choice of many of the larger painting contractors in Connecticut.
Now, run by a 2nd generation owner, FMI continues to carry on its tradition of putting quality and price in the forefront.
